I’m Charla Cannon Yearwood (she/ her), a licensed clinical social worker. I’m all about liberation, social justice, and community. I believe that we are all connected in community. Meaning, my healing is tied to your healing.
You can expect to be heard, understood, and valued. The goal is to create a space where you can bring your whole self and practice vulnerability, while also being challenged to try something new.
My clinical perspective and style of practice line up best with theories centered on liberation. I tend to use a variety of modalities, including acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and EMDR. We can’t change the fact that you’ve had to experience harmful, dangerous, or painful things, but we can explore how you can live without these experiences controlling your life.
Along with managing this practice, I am also a social work educator and researcher. I facilitate continuing education courses focused on challenging white supremacy in mental health services, training clinicians in liberatory counseling techniques, along with other DEI related workshops. Outside of work, my husband and I have two little humans, two dogs, and a cat. As a family, we’re obsessed with all things Disney and enjoy a good sing-a-long. Although I love adventure and discovering someplace new, I’m an introvert who could spend days snuggled under a blanket, rotating between popular reality TV, naps, and novels.
